Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
I haven't had a single moment for writing since the holidays at least, I've been so awfully busy with parties and that! One of Daddy's friends even had a New Year's party the night before last, can you imagine? Who throws a party for New Year's a week after it's happened? My, older people can be strange sometimes. Of course I would never insult one of Daddy's friends, but Daddy didn't understand it himself! And the whole situation wasn't made any less absurd by this silly curfew. Ten pm! How can anybody do anything before ten pm? We might as well not have had any parties this holiday at all! Though that would have been awfully sad, really. I suppose sad, early parties are better than none at all. Anyway, I saw the nicest dress at this last one, it was bright yellow like the middle of a daffodil and all gathered and just so pretty. I wish it had been mine, but I just wore my green silk again because I do love it and this party wasn't the sort you have to wear something new. I should have had something new anyway, now that I think. Pretty soon I won't be able to fit into anything nice at all for months and months.

But the parties are over now, anyway. So here I am!

Oh my, Baby is kicking today. I wish she wouldn't, I'd love a nap.

I can't imagine you looking anything but lovely, Cathy. You should buy a new dress if you want a new dress.

As for the baby, she probably knew that her handsome uncle Gilderoy was thinking of her today.

Oh, Roy, you always say the sweetest things! I'm not sure I ought to, I wouldn't be able to wear it for so long anyway, unless it fit now and then I could only wear it for a little while before it was too small.

Oh yes, that would make any girl kick up her heels!

I have been told I have a golden tongue and an unsurpassable charm. But if you ask me, I would give you anything you wanted, if you wanted it. Nevermind that you can only wear it for a short while anyways. Fashion changes quickly.

Absolutely. She'll my second favorite girl, after you.

The charm is certainly true, but I've seen your tongue, and it's decidedly pink. That's true! Maybe I'll ask Marcus to take me shopping.

And you'll be her favourite uncle, but don't tell my brothers I said.

No, no. It is definitely gold, Miss Cathy. Gold with all my rich words and my ready wit. He I Ah, maybe.

Of course not. I will be extremely discrete so as to not cause a family feud.

Come here and let me check it again! Maybe? Do you think he's probably too busy for shopping?

You're an absolute darling, darling.

Maybe I'll call on you tomorrow. If he is too busy, then I'll just take you when I go to prove that my tongue is gold, not this libelous pink. How does that sound?

Coming from you, that's like hearing it's Christmas all over again.

You might say maybe, but if you don't come after all I'll be awfully sad, Gilly.

Sometimes, just sometimes, I suspect you of flattering me.

Don't call me Gi Well, I can't be having that. I'll be there after lunch?

Me? Flatter you? Never. Don't think of such a thing. I only say the truth.

You should come for lunch, it's so dull to eat alone.

Well, if you promise.

I can't allow that either. I'll be there for lunch then. Any other requests, princess?

I'll do more than that. I swear it.

Wonderful! I'll have the House Elf make something really lovely for us to eat, you'll see. No, I think that's all I want, you for lunch and shopping!

On what?

The Minister is trying VERY hard to protect us! The curfew isn't so terrible, if you ask me.

But that dress sounds very nice.

Oh but I don't think we need to be protected from parties! With all our own friends!

Doesn't it? It was so lovely, I wish I had one just like it, only I'd have to be awfully careful not to wear it anywhere where someone might notice I'd bought the same as someone else. Hmm.

But coming home! Since we can't Apparate any longer, one never KNOWS who they might encounter on the way home! Or even going there! We don't want an incident like Little Hangleton to happen in Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley, that would be simply awful.

I got a new dress to go to the Christmas Ball and I felt like a princess. I think even Minister Cadwallader loo But that is VERY embarrassing, to be caught wearing the same thing as someone else. Maybe you shouldn't get it.

But that's what having escorts is for! No one could hurt me with Marcus around, or Daddy, or my brothers, and I'd just be sure to have them take me home!

I bet you looked like one, too! New dresses always do that for a girl, I've found. What colour was it?

Of course that's what escorts are for, but don't be silly. What if something happens to your escorts? Those terrorists don't BELIEVE in rules. Duel one of them and you're not going to walk away!

It was red, for good luck. A very BRIGHT red, now that I think about it. I think I did as well, because I asked so many got asked to dance so many times.

But no one would ever dare attack one of my escorts.

Oh how nice! I miss dancing, Marcus says I oughtn't because it might disturb Baby. Even at the parties he only let me dance once or twice when it was a very calm dance and very slow. You're so lucky!

You would be surprised. And if the vigilantes get involved, then it becomes TEN TIMES WORSE. They just instigate and worsen EVERYTHING.

When my sister-in-law was pregnant, my brother wouldn't let her lift a finger. I think when I'm pregnant, I'll do the same thing. I do love dancing though. Slow dances are still nice.

I still don't see why anybody would hurt anyone coming home from a party. That's just horrid!

You will miss dancing, you'll see. But I suppose it's best because if anything happened to Baby...oh I don't even want to think of that. Your brother sounds very sensible really.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]mayhapsblossom

That's why they do it! Because they are HORRID!!! And they like to kill everyone's fun and safety and so the Minister has to try very hard to get everyone to be safe and this is the ONLY way. But he said it was temporary, so I imagine it will be normal SOON.

I'm sure nothing will happen to your baby, miss, especially if you are being that careful. Henry is very sensible but VERY boring as well.

We'll all have plenty of beauty rest with such an early curfew, I suppose. Not that some of us need it.

Perhaps we could have a shopping date to find you some new clothes?
